Couldn't agree with you more. Everything is turning into a cause these days, when half of it could simply be for entertainment. Being unemployed myself, I'd love to help a few charities monetarily, but there's no money left over. I gotta look out for me first, lest I be relying upon the charities that I'd be donating to.
And benefits are nice, when they're strictly for the sake of helping someone in need, but the reversal - having an event and then feeling like it must serve something or someone after the fact, is tiring.
